The Regular Meeting of the Town of Hillrose Board of
Trustees was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem Wahlert at 7:00 p.m.
Trustees answering roll call were Colerick, Kramer and Smith. Riedl absent due
to a family function. Golemboski was the staff member present. Visitors
present were Nicole Kramer and A.J. Meier. The Mayor Pro-tem led the pledge of
allegiance.
Public Comments: A.J. Meier, representing The Place, brought
in a flyer for a benefit they are holding for the family of Dustin Smith
on October 16, 2010 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Smith was badly injured in an
explosion while working as a plumber and recently passed away. Smith and his
wife were expecting their first child and the proceeds of the benefit dinner
would be given to them. Meier was here to request that they be able to block
off the street from the corner of the Post Office down past the front of The
Place. They would have racecars for people to view, possibly use the dunk tank
and have a bbq dinner. After discussion the Board agreed to the plan but
Emerson St. will be shut down to the end of the block at Beaver to keep anyone
from parking on Emerson and having to back out to Beaver to leave.
The minutes from the August 16, 2010 meetings were presented
and Smith moved with Kramer seconding to approve the minutes as printed.
Approved by voice vote 3-0 with Colerick abstaining, as he was absent from that
meeting.
The following reports were submitted to the Board:
Certified Operator, Dale Colerick: as printed. In addition
Colerick will be having surgery on the 8th and has arranged for other qualified
operators to fill in as needed during his recuperation, expected to be 1 to 2
weeks.
Clerk/Administrator, Lynn Golemboski: as printed
Deputy Clerk, Barbara Nichols: as printed
Maintenance, Ed Wahlert & Don Smith: Mowing, trimming, both
roofs have been repaired. Smith reported the cost of lumber for building
shelves in the front and 16’ down each side of the storage trailer would be
around $400. After discussion it was decided that 16’ on both sides was too
much to begin with and if more were needed we could add on at a later date.
Smith, Wahlert and Golemboski will meet to decide how to configure the shelves.
Old Business:
Colerick reported that the Website was nearing completion and
would be ready to launch in the near future. We need to get the hosting
agreement from Ag Information and after discussion it was agreed to use
hillrosecolorado.org for the site.
New Business:
The list of bills for September 6, 2010 was presented. Smith
moved with Colerick seconding to pay the bills in the usual manner. Roll call
vote was taken with all present voting yes, motion carried 4-0.
The CML District 1 meeting will be held in Haxtun on September
15, 2010. No one was interested in attending the dinner meeting but Smith and
Golemboski will attend the 4:30 p.m. pre-meeting.
Golemboski asked if the Board wanted to have a Fall Bonfire
again. Many members of the community have asked if we were going to and it has
been very well attended in the past. After discussion it was decided to host
the Fall Bonfire on October 23, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. on the ball field at the
Hillrose Estates Petteys Memorial Park. The town will supply chili, hot dogs,
s’mores and hot cider.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
